Seoul : Le Alaska

Le Alaska - Exterior

8th December 2012.
Seoul, South Korea.
Le Alaska is located in the upscale district of Apgujeong near Gangnam. High praised by Seoul Eats and recommended by a number of food bloggers and travel guides, I just have to try what might just be the best bakery in Seoul.

Le Alaska - Cups and Plates

For a start, Le Alaska has a great ambience. It felt like entering a quaint, rustic cottage. They even provide blankets during winter, making the whole place feel like home. However for me, the good things ended at the ambience (and okay service). The food is just over-hyped and the coffee was just bad (for Singapore standards).

Le Alaska - Croissant

I ordered the most fundamental of items from the bakery, the croissant. Priced at least two times of Tous les Jours or Paris Baguette, it was unfortunately dry, the crust was slightly burnt and it lacked the buttery fragrance I seek for a good croissant.

Le Alaska - Chocopas

We also tried other items such as the Chocopas which was average only.

Le Alaska - Cappuccino

Move on to the coffee, it was way too sourish and acidic. The saddest part of the coffee is the burnt flavor. In short, I think Le Alaska is just overhyped and overpriced. It has good ambience but it was a pity that it does not have equally impressive breads and coffee to match.
