Bangkok - Wat Pho

The land of smiles is another tropical country that is easily one of my favourite travelling spot. The country of Thailand is rich in history and offers one of my favourite cuisines, ahan-Tai. I just couldn’t get enough of their chai-yen, Mango Sticky Rice and elegant Thai architecture.

Grand Palace & Wat Phra Kaew

BANGKOK
The capital of Thailand is a huge urban jungle with plenty of temples and shopping malls to explore.

EAT:
Loy Nava Dinner Cruise, hop on a converted rice barge enjoy the scenery along the Chao Phraya River at night.
Cafe Palomar, a last minute breakfast before catching a flight at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
La Table de Tee, modern Thai fusion cuisine by Chef Tee Kachorklin.
Eating in Rattanakosin reveals a more down to earth cuisine.
Erawan Tea Room, an elegant cafe serving Thai-style Afternoon Teas.
Vertigo, located on top of the Banyan Tree Bangkok, you get to enjoy drinks with an awesome view of the city's skyline.

SEE:
The Grand Palace and the Wat Phra Kaew are probably one of the most famous landmarks in Bangkok.
Wat Pho, a beautiful temple famed for its Thai massage and enormous lying Buddha statue.
King's Birthday, an annual event when Bangkok's historic center at Rattanakosin gets flooded with Thais celebrating the birthday of the current king, his Majesty, King Bhumidol Adulyadej.

Jim Thompson House Museum, engaging tour guides and a fascinating house where an equally fascinating man once lived.

SLEEP:
Bhuthorn Bed and Breakfast is a restored shophouse located near the Grand Palace. It was turned into a charming and nostalgic guesthouse by two passionate architects. And here is a revisit.
The Asadang, the sister Bed and Breakfast of the Bhuthorn.
Kingston Suites, a modern hotel that tries to create an European atmosphere.

Ayutthaya - Wat Mahathat

AYUTTHAYA
The former capital of Siam and the heart of the Ayutthaya Kingdom that ruled Thailand from 1351 to 1767 AD.

EAT:
Sai Thong River Restaurant, a seafood restaurant recommended by Lonely Planet.
Baan Kun Pra, another restaurant recommended by Lone Planet serving Thai and Western dishes.

SEE:
Wat Mahathat and the Wat Ratchaburana are just some of the temples located in the center of Ayutthaya.

Sukhothai - Wat Mahathat

SUKHOTHAI
The city of Sukhothai is capital of the "first" Thai kingdom (although many smaller Thai kingdoms existed before it). The Sukhothai Kingdom ruled Siam from 1238 to 1448 until it was overshadowed and conquered by the Ayutthaya Kingdom.

SEE:
The Sukhothai Historical Park is located in the center of Old Sukhothai and contains quite a few ruins including the magnificent Wat Mahathat.

SLEEP:
Ruean Thai, a resort-like hotel located in New Sukhothai.

Phuket - Thalang Road

PHUKET
The sunny island of Phuket is known for its pristine beaches (and equally busy tourist crowds). Before it was known for its beaches, Phuket was also known as Jungceylon or Thalang to the locals and was a port for traders seeking refuge from the onslaught of the monsoon storms.
EAT:
Yellow Orchid Restaurant, for a taste of Thai Airways catering.
ete Bistro, mediocre and unimpressive Western food.
Glass Noodles, an affordable and filling street food found on the streets of Patong.
Delicious Tom Yum and Phad Thai along Route 68 in old Phuket Town.
NZ Mussels, desserts and wine at Wine Connection Deli and Bistro.
Fried Ice Cream! at Be Shady Restaurant.
Decent, affordable Japanese food at Fuji Restaurant.

SLEEP:
Sino House Apartment and Hotel, a great base to explore Phuket Town with comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast and complimentary mini-bar!

Ran by both French and Thai, the Royal Phawadee Village Resort has a great location : only 1-2 streets away from Patong Beach.

Villa Zolitude, pure bliss, a nirvana where guests found solitude away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Not to mention, awesome breakfast too.
